Getting drunk with Mrs. S.

Yes, my boss got me drunk tonight. She had some friends over after work. I stayed a little late-- helping her set up, running to the store, etc. Once I got back, she kept giving me drinks...and I kept taking them. I was kind of working, kind of hanging out. I'd keep excusing myself to go check on the kids. Basically, it was ovetime paid for in free alcohol.

I was "under the influence" by 8 (more than buzzed, not quite drunk--although that seemed to hit once I got home).

And, I'm very sorry to say, I bought a pack of cigarettes. You guys, I never stood a chance. 1) I forgot to put my patch on this morning 2) I was drinking and C) Other people were smoking. If you put me around other smokers and alcohol--without my patch to back me up--you know that I'm screwed.

Okay, I'm starting to come down and I'm tired. Good night.

LOL. "tomoror". Yep, you're drunk :-) I'm not gonna give you shit about smoking, but I DO have to ask why you try to quit when you don't even WANT to. It doesn't give you very good odds, my dear!

Renee, excellent point!! I don't smoke a whole lot, unless I'm upset (which doesn't happen much), and people ask me all the time, well if you don't smoke much, why don't you just quit altogether. Simply put, I don't want to! You have to wholeheartedly want to quit something, in order for it to actually work. Jen, smoke away, do whatever's gonna make YOU happy!

Cuz I know that I need to, due to health reasons, and also cuz everyone ELSE wants me too. And it costs lots of money.

I'm back on the patch now, though.

My, my. It looks like we all had a late night. Looking at the posting times, Jen had one at 3:01 a.m.

Just to let you know folks, when you get up to my age (47), you're in bed at 10:00 p.m.

Enjoy it while you can...

ACtually Fred, I went to bed at like 10. I woke up at 3 due to my dizziness and nausea. =-) (Could be from either the patch or the alcohol.)

Plus, the nicotine patch gives me some CRAZY dreams at night...but that's a whole different post.

BTW, maybe Rob should spend less time talking shit over here and spend more time updating his OWN blog. Nothing new since Tuesday?

are these *good* crazy dreams? cuz if they are, i'm thinkin' about getting a few patches...and i don't smoke!!

Sometimes I'm in bed at 10... I should be EVERY night, cuz Brent gets me up btwn 6:30 and 7. But sometimes I just can't get to sleep until 1 or 2. Which makes 6:30 or 7 suck extra bad :-)

I don't know about getting drunk with your boss, especially the driving home after part. Did you do anything you remember that you regret? Cause that's always fun ;)
Am I just being a wet-blanket? Maybe, but still, could be scary.

Anna: you're kidding, right? Cuz I know that you DMX-ers never go out drinking with YOUR higher ups. (Wait, maybe that was just in the old days.)

And I later modified it to "not REALLY drunk", just "more than buzzed." And no, nothing bad happened, I was charming and told funny stories, stayed for an appropriate number of drinks, and then excused myself so that she could be with her friends. (By then, I had been there for 12 damn hours.)

I will say that once I got HOME, my intoxication intensified. Is that because I was safely home and could ALLOW myself to fully feel the effects?

Yes, we have quite the tradition of drinking with co-workers here at DMX, which is why I ask what things you said that you regret becuase everyone knows WAY too much about me from my bar stories.
Last week after Ryan's going-away party Melissa told the entire Sales Team that I was quite entertaining, or quite the entertainer or something like that.
Pray for me at the Conference next week!

LOL..good luck Anna!

As long as there's no stripping or dancing on the tables, I'm sure you'll escape with your dignity in tact.

Rob said...

I take it you've left with yours in tatters eh Jen?

And I guess I've drank with all my previous bosses, but not with my current boss, so much.
It'll be a whole new experience- getting blitzed with Pres.Ken & VP Melissa. Dude, I'm in so much trouble.

I dont know, Anna, I think we've both seen both of THEM a bit 'influenced' before; just keep your dignity but have FUN, you know? You've been there long enough to know that you can get drunk and silly..just not drunk and STUPID. (Not that you would, of course.)

Whatever you do, don't yell at Melissa for smoking in the car when she's taking you home. ;)
