Getting a little excited. But just a little.

Our class lists were posted this week. As of now, I have 22 kids and I know (or at least recognize the names) of about a fourth of them. 3 are the siblings of former students--and since these are all parents with whom I had particularly good relationships, I don't think it's a coincidence that their kids are in my class again. (In fact, I know for sure that 1 of them was going to request me--and I know this because, ironically, she's the receptionist at my bone doc's office. Small world, huh? I walked in for my first appointment and as I was signing in, I hear "Well hello, Miss K. So YOU'RE the teacher who broke her arm." LOL)

I'm still not ready to go back...but getting your class list is always kind of cool.

Dude, I've been excited for back-to-school since the second day of summer vacation :-) Okay, not THAT long, but I'm way more excited than Brent is. We get to go in and meet his teacher on Tuesday. Can't wait!

class list is posted on our school door, sent john to see it he comes back and lists all the kids in his class. I ask what teacher did you get? his reply " ahhh, shit" and jumps back on his bike to go find out. Hope your kids are more attentive. and yes "shit" I laughed to hard to yell at him.

LOL Lisa! I'm gonna have a hard time with language discipline. John HATES when Brent says "crap" and "sucks". It doesn't bother me... as long as he's not using questionable language AT me, I guess I don't think it's a huge deal. I'm not sayin he can swear, the kid is only 7, but is "crap" really that bad?

I dont let my kids say those words at school--i actually HATE when my kids say sucks, even though I say it all the time. go figure.

And Brent doesn't say those words at school, either. He's an absolute angel at school, apparently. But at home, I don't cringe when he says those words. HOWEVER, he and his friend Nathan were discussing a girl at school and referred to her as "so hot" and that irked the hell out of me. 7-year-old girls are not HOT. They're CUTE.

nearly all the time john is very good. but should a large boulder land on his foot, or the circus elephant let one fly in his face, i think "shit" is quite alright.
and yes he learned it from watching me:( a great respectfull kid otherwise.

Hahahahahahaha about the circus elephant :-) But exactly. Brent's a great kid; if saying "crap" and "sucks" is the biggest problem we have, I think we're pretty lucky. And while I watch the actual cussing around Brent, I'm constantly saying "crap" and "that sucks" and once in a while, "You're really starting to piss me off, so you better clean up the attitude" :-) So he's gonna pick it up. And plus, the aforementioned friend, Nathan, taught Brent the F-bomb in 1st grade. If I have my drethers (OMG, I'm such an old mom for saying that word), "crap" wins out over "fuck". Unless I'm the one talking :-)

I know I told some of you this story, but when I was working at Tutor Time in Holland, we had a mom and her preschool son come in to check the place out. As we were at the water color table, one of our other 3-year-olds checked out the newcomer and, in a very conversational way, asked, "Who the fuck are you?"

Hysterical LATER, of course. At the time, I was mortified, and it wasn't even my kid!! LOLOLOL
