Overheard in a particular fifth-grade classroom

Student 1 (looking at a sentence written on the board): "What's a gazelle?"

Student 2: "Dude, don't you know? They run really fast. Like a cantalope."

Try keeping a straight face upon hearing THAT.

I actually held it for about 10 seconds but my voice kind of broke when I said "antelope" and my eyes teared from holding in the laughter, and at first the kids thought I was crying and then they realized that I was just valiantly trying not to laugh. The kid was a good sport, though. He laughed too when his table mate said "Yo, that's a fruit, man."
