Commercials that make you cry.
(Besides the Fruit of the Loom "You can't over love your underwear" one, of course. That's a given. Have you seen it? The "music video" one?)
Anyway, the latest one to set me off was for Mastercard. It opens with a mom slowly driving her minivan down the street. "Tank of gas, $36."
Then the camera cuts to a little boy (6 years old or so, maybe a little older) shuffling down the sidewalk.
"Being there when he changes his mind about joining the circus...priceless."
And the camera zooms out and you see him dragging his little bear behind him and carrying a kid-sized suitcase....it's just SO CUTE.
Which commercials make YOU verklempt? (Boys, you need to play, too.)

I guess I will have to go with the credit card or like savings bank thing, where they play "wind beneath my wings" and shows a little girl and her daddy slow dancing when she is little, then flashing forward to her wedding day...
i will always remember the budweiser commercial at the first superbowl after 9/11. it was silent...the clydesdales walked to a view of the nyc skyline now void of the twin towers, and they kneeled down and bowed their heads.
i'm teary just thinking about it...

OOOH, that reminds me of the latest Budweiser one during this Superbowl, with the soldier returning from overseas, walking through the airport, getting a standing ovation.
OH MY GOD.
budweiser rocks.

Anna, this is a great blog. (the whole deal I mean) I've read several of yours and like it very much. Your job is so very important to our future as a nation. You go girl.
Yeah...great job, Anna! ;)
Ok fine...the one where Mean Joe Green gives the kid his jersey for the Coke. And the Seinfeld 'Superman' ad...that gets me every time...

I LOVE that Fruit of the Loom song! The first time I heard it I thought it was real and wanted to know where I could get it. I love that guy's voice - almost sounds like Phil Vassar.
In answer to your question, maybe it should be "Which commercials DON'T make you cry?" :-)
and yes, I am posting now. :-)
I really love that one too.
Any commercials with babies or kids just melt my heart.
Mom, I thought it kind of sounded like Colin Raye. And LOL, I thought it was a real song too af first, till they got to the "chorus."
Since you brought up Mastercard, here's my favorite R-rated spoof of that series.
Enjoy. (You really didn't expect a sappy commercial from me, did you?)
LOL Fred, that was funny.
LOLOLOL Renee.
Oh yeah, maybe Collin Raye too. How can we find out who does sing it?
For those who love the Fruit of the Loom commercial - if you go to fruitoftheloom.com and click on North America, there is a link to watch the commercial. Maybe some smart person can put it on here if they are so inclined, Jen!
You can just hear the song too.
Jen, I think it IS Collin Raye.
:-)
I KNEW it. I'd recognize that voice anywhere.
Here's the link

LOL Renee. I'm sure I'll have my share of Bobby stories. It's only a matter of time.
