"Dough!"

Well, we're back from Blog Party 2005 and it was a huge success. There was much eating, drinking and girl-bonding (but not THAT kind, so get your minds out of the gutter). Renee's house is gorgeous, I now plan to move to Granger (South Bend/ Elkhart, IN area) and everyone got along famously--although Renee and Anna had met each other before, this was the first time that Kishelle was introduced into the mix; and, not counting a very cruel false alarm (you guys are bitches), we all fell into a very easy, comfortable friendship.

Anna and I hit HORRIBLE traffic (due to the infernal Michigan construction) on the way there, so our "3 hour tour" turned into a 5-hour nightmare. However, narrowly escaping the falling concrete that cascaded down onto the highway due to an unfortunate incident involving a forklift and a cement truck certainly helped to break up the monotony of traveling **17** miles in an hour and 15 minutes.

Some other highlights:
  • A heated, yet drunken, game of "blondes vs. brunettes" 90s Trivia Pursuit (it was a tie, but it resulted in some pretty entertaining answers, including the name of this post)
  • Me almost knocking myself unconscious as I threw my head back to take a shot, not knowing that Renee had opened the pantry door behind me)
  • Kishelle mastering the "69"
  • The party in the Victoria's Secret panties section
  • My new size 8 skirt (okay, so maybe these are MY highlights; they'll have to give you their own versions, I guess)
There are many more details, of course (some we'll tell, and some we won't), but this was a brief overview. (Yes, there are pictures...and we'll actually post some of them.) ;)

I am soooo intrigued. A "false alarm"? Tell me more.

I haven't been reading Kishelle's blog. But, with that "69" comment, I'm her newest fan.

And, whenever a guy looking for smut types in "bitches in bondage", you'll be getting all the hits.

I can hardly wait for the pictures.

Please post pictures--didn't know you were from the Midwest--I really should pay more attention.

Yeah, Kish, Anna and I are from Michigan and Renee, host of our blog party, is in Indiana--near South Bend.

I really liked it out there and am thinking about moving there when I'm done with student teaching later this year. (I looked it up last night, Jevanking--it's like 2.5 hours from you, so not all that close.)

Sparky--you are hereby invited to Blog Party 2006. ;)

jevanking, I actually used to live in Lafayette for about a year and a half. My husband opened the Super Target there. From there we moved to Indianapolis (to open another SuperTarget), then back to Michigan and now to South Bend (another Super Target)

Jen, I'll email the pics... I think Anna and Kish have some too, though...

Fred, I'm LMAO at your comment about Kish :-)

It was great fun and I can't wait until next year. Hmmm. We may have to make this a twice a year thing. One in the summer, one in the winter. We could have it in Traverse City, in one of those lodges John and I stay in at the annual Target thing!

Renee said...

I feel like a loser for asking, but what does "woot" mean, Sparky (or anyone else who can answer)?

Jen said...

Renee, it's like, "whoo hoo!"

Renee said...

Okay, I *thought* so, but then I thought maybe it was an acronym or something :-)

I must explain the "69". see I can't tell which is which, like looking at the bottem of a shoe, I can never tell if the line is above or below the #, so I get them confused, but by the end of hte night I started to get the "69" mastered. Ok dirty minds :).

Renee said...

You just couldn't stand the thought of men fantasizing about blog party 69 action, could ya? :-)

Yes, a great time really was had by all!
Highlights:
1. The "little person" ('cause they don't like to be called midgets) on the Twilite Zone drive there
2. Laughing my ass off until 2:30 in the morning
3. Drinking & eating & drinking & eating & drinking & etc.
4. Shopping with My Girls :)

Also, here I thought Fred was an upstanding, educated gentleman, when he's really just as smutty as the next guy. ;)

And did you miss me yesterday? I was actually doing work for a change! Don't worry, I stopped.

Jen said...

*I* was certainly wondering where you were, Anna. I considered the "work" possibility but quickly discarded it.

Jen said...

PS--I found a Twizzler in my purse today. ;)

Anna said...

lol Jen!
Watch out for those escapee Twizzlers!

Renee said...

LOLOL. If it were anyone else, I'd ask how a Twizzler got in one's purse, but anything can happen with Jen :-)

The "false alarm" (this is gonna be long cuz I'm incapable of making a long story short):

Kishelle and I had not yet met, but we email each other all the time and have a lot in common. She got to my house first... like 3 hours before Jen and Anna. We called them a short time after Kish got here to see how far away they were. At this point, they were just getting out of Detroit.

Jen was mildly concerned that they were so far away and here sit Kish and I, who've never met before. She asked, worriedly, "So, is it weird, or are you guys talkin and stuff?"

It was very comfortable; we both felt like we'd known each other for a long time. No uncomfortable silence or anything. Which is weird because I'm generally quite shy.

So after like an hour or so, Kishelle deviously suggested I call Jen, pretending Kish was in the bathroom and tell her how weird it is and for them to hurry the hell up. So I call, and I'm talking all quiet, telling Jen how weird it is; we just don't have anything to talk about, etc. I can HEAR Jen's heart sink as she goes, "Ohhhhhhh... well... is it gonna be okay when WE get there, like you just don't know what to talk about, or are you guys not getting along at all?" I tell her things will probably be fine when they get here, but to hurry the hell up. Hehehehehe. They're still stuck in traffic, so there's nothing she can even DO at this point. So she says "Well... put in a movie or something so you don't HAVE to talk, and we'll be there as soon as we can!"

LMAO! This is all believable to her because she KNOWS that meeting new people is usually agonizing for me, especially girls, cuz let's face it, lots of girls are bitches. Not these girls, though :-)

So, Kishelle's sitting next to me wondering if I'm ever gonna tell Jen we're joking, and I finally can't hold in the laughter anymore. Then she almost didn't believe me when I finally told her that everything was great. I think they were actually pissed at us for a minute :-)

And at some point during the conversation, Kishelle was gonna call Jen from her cell phone, pretending to be in the bathroom saying how weird it was. THAT woulda been great :-)

Renee said...

Damn, that really WAS long. I should have done it as a post, instead of a comment...

Fred said...

I'm not as smutty as the next guy.

I'm worse.

Jen said...

NOOOO Fred.

You're wonderful! We love Fred!

Renee said...

LOLOL. Fred, your smuttiness does not alter my love for ya.

Plus, one needs be at least a LITTLE smutty to keep up with US, right? ;-)

LocuTus of Borg said...

Dang Renee that was funny!! - Kish should have gotten on the other line. You should have kept that up for as long as you could. It reminds me of a story in Sweden in March with a convertible - have to post on my blog tomorrow.

Wow Fred - guess you got a lotta of loving going your way! ;)

Renee said...

LoB, I actually thought about trying to keep it going until they got here, but Jen would SURELY have gotten pulled over trying to get here as fast as she could, adn then it wouldn't be funny anymore :-)
