Florida sales tax
Damn, I'm chatty this morning, eh?
Anyway, one last thing. I just read online that 10 states (including Florida) are "offering shoppers sales tax holidays" on many back-to-school supplies. However, I thought that Florida already didn't HAVE sales tax.

We have a sales tax (state and local) but we don't have a personal income tax. So - when you get your paycheck, no state taxes deducted.

That's correct, Renee. No state income tax form is necesaary at the end of the year.
Our state is funded from all the tourists. So - every time you rent a car or stay in a hotel, you're helping the residents to NOT pay an income tax. Sweet.

well, there's still federal taxes
While Florida does not have a state income tax, we do have a sales tax. That's the bad news.
The good news is that every year the state declares a tax holiday period for special things.
For instance, there will be a tax holiday on back-to-school things for kids and this even includes new shoes.
And there is a tax holiday to lay in hurricane supplies such as flashlights, batteries, generators, etc. Unfortunately, that does not include plywood. But, if you blow away, you don't have to pay taxes of anykind.
Well hell, we need a disney world in Michigan to up the tourist desire :). HA
