The Walk

Well, we did it--and we finished it in just a little over an hour, too. We really knocked out those miles pretty easily (although I did get a little more tired towards the end, due to the countless free bottles of water I was carrying in my backpack; for some reason, I felt the need to pick some up at every station we came to). Good times were had, hands were compulsively washed and laughs were shared. I saw Tyson for the first time since our "break up"--it actually went just fine and we had a good time walking together and getting caught up. We did an unofficial count of the money raised by the entire team (which, mind you, was just 6 of us or so), and we came in just short of $1500. Not too bad!

I'm still too traumatized to talk about the breakfast that FOLLOWED the walk (let's just say that Greg ended up meeting my mother and she was in FINE FORM), but I'll try to post about that part later. I'm still waiting to see what happens at Part 2 of Jen's Hell on Earth tonight (some of us, including Said Mother, are going out bowling tonight, and he said he was going to meet us for a little while for that, too--to "talk to my mom some more." I, frankly, am sure that he was just being polite and is halfway to Canada by now).

You forgot to mention our beloved disco queen (who would also be the mother be spoken about in this post).

LOLOLOLOL. shut up, I can be compulsive if I want. AT least I know my hands are clean, right?

I just remembered that my apple is still in my van and that sounds good right now. Something to soak up the booze :-)

When I got home this morning (shut up) I tore UP the rest of my "invisible breakfast" from after the walk.

$1500 - Wow! And you walked the whole thing in just over an hour?! Man, y'all booked it!

Glad you all had a good time and can't wait to hear more about Mom & Greg's meeting. ;)

Oh man wish I could have been there to see that haha! Sure Jen ... I know what that "invisible breakfast" consists of ;) heehee.

Congratulations on raising so much for the March of DImes - that is excellent. Over $200 per person is awesome! No blisters I hope :)

What's invisible breakfast?

Well, when Mom, Renee and I first got to Denny's, I ordered a HUGE breakfast. I was starving. After we ordered the food, Greg called and he said he'd come out there to meet us for a while. After we hung up, the food arrived and I was struck by a wave of new-relationship panic: I can't let this guy I just started dating walk in and see me eating the Lumberjack Special! I was surrounded by, like, 30 plates. =-) So I ate some of it really quickly, and then I got a to-go box, boxed the rest of it up, and got rid of my 50 extra plates (I gave some to Renee and Mom and had the waitress take the rest).

And LoB, if you're insinuating what I THINK you were, you're A DIRTY BOY.

As for the conversation at that breakfast, let's just say that my mother felt the need to share WAYYYYY too much info about our family.

I'm still laughing at the "lumberjack special" :-) That was so damn funny; the look of sheer panic on your face when the food came :-)

Yeah, Deb was suffering from severe diarrhea of the mouth. But, alas, Greg is not in Canada
:-)

Wait, what time did we get done? Was it one hour or two?

PS, there are pics up from the walk at www.thevan.fm . Click on Photo Albums or something like that on the left side, and from there I'm sure you can figure it out. (Once you get into the March of Dimes album, click on that one thumbnail pic you see, and that will take you to all the rest.) There's one of Renee apparently deep throating a bagel or something....

Renee said...

OMG! I didn't think he got any of me other than the "group pic". Nice. I'm not so sure I even WANT to go look at them...

Renee said...

The very first picture is of your MOM deep throating a bagel. I wasn't the only one :-)

I SAID I was sorry!!

On that first page, there was 16 pics. HOW do you get to see the other ones? I can't figure it out at all, but Kish says that there are more pictures up SOMEWHERE, or something.

Jen said...

OK I saw the rest, but only cuz Kish gave me the direct link, LOL

Mom/Deb said...

I was not!

What's the other link?

Mom/Deb said...

About 1 1/2 hours.

Mom/Deb said...

Renee,

what do you mean "alas"?

I thought you liked him.

Anna said...

Did any of those last ones make sense?

Renee said...

I think Deb means it took us an hour and a half to do the walk, and I said "alas, he's not in Canada". Maybe I need to get my dictionary out... I do like him a lot and don't WANT him to go to Canada :-)

Anna said...

Aha! Thanks for the translation ;)

Renee said...

I speak Deb :-)

Jen said...

Be afraid, Renee. Be very afraid.

LOLOL. I'll just chalk it up to having known her since I was 6.

God, we're old.
