6th grade, trucker-style
The kids are working on a writing piece about their favorite state. One student came up to the desk to discuss her paper on South Korea.
"South Korea isn't a state," I informed her. "It's a country."
"Are you f______ing kidding me?" she blurted out.
Once we realized what she said, our mouths both dropped open. I was actually speechless for a moment there.

I hope you gave her an "A" for honesty :0)
LOL. It was almost funny, just cuz it didn't hit her at first (what she had said) and she was MORTIFIED once she realized it. I didn't know what to do, cuz it wasn't really on PURPOSE but it also wasn't school-appropriate (to say the least). So I settled for writing a note home in her planner that her parents have to sign, just so they're aware of the situation and will (hopefully) have a talk witth her.
Okay, must address the issue here: How in the hell did this girl make it to 6th grade?
As for the filthy lil trucker, I had a potty mouth back then, but there's no way I woulda said anything like that in school. Did you manage to keep your laughter in? Well hopefully she'll learn something other than how to be cuss like a sailor this year.
well the saddest part is, her comment (the korea part) was not unusual. i heard things like that in each class. i had one kid who insisted on doing HIS on puerto rico cuz it was "part of the united states." i tried to explain the difference between territory and state and didn't get very far.=-) but at least he was somewhat close. i had kids mention japan, russia.....i emailed the social studies teacher by the end of the day
You should have said, "I shit you not!"
LOL. Hey, Eduardo
