More good news

I've been noticing lately that whenever I start to feel too sorry for myself, some good news also comes my way. The latest is that I've been officially nominated for the leadership program within our company (not our SCHOOL, but the whole company). I know Sara was going to nominate me before she left, and she very well may have put a good word in for me, but the official nominations happened after she left, so I feel kind of good about that.

Anyway, to bitch and moan some more (LOL), this is the kind of thing that I know some ex-friends would have been pretty proud of, but guess what? YOU guys will be proud of me, and YOU ARE ALWAYS THERE FOR ME, NO MATTER WHAT. So you all win. ;) (But seriously, this is the kind of shit I miss telling him about. GOD, it's harder now to be away from him than it was at first, you know? Like with quitting smoking...I can quit the first 4 days, even 7 days, at first....it's the long term that's a bitch.)

So...I have to officially apply, including writing an essay. We'll see what happens. I don't know if it's a super competitive process at this point or if, once you're nominated, you're pretty much in unless you show that you're a total asshole...but we'll see. I'll let you know.

Oh--and one of my friends' marriages is falling apart and I'm friends with them both. Just some added drama for ya. ;)

WOW!! How exciting! The whole company!! Woo hoo for you! So if you're accepted, what will this mean for you? Your regular, day-to-day job won't change, right? I'm assuming you'll go to lots of different trainings and then train your peers and maybe more of those site eval things?

I think you're a shoe-in. Even if you have to write an essay and stuff, you rule at that kind of thing. Can't wait to hear more about it! Love you :-)

Way to go! I'm so glad your company recognizes the great leader you are and the effort you put into your mission! Your essay is gonna rock - because you're an amazing writer!

LOL. I'm sure that was my mom, Renee...because it expressed concern for something other than oneself

Okay I'm finally done with the essay. It doesn't help that I've had the stomach bug for the last couple of days. However, I think it's pretty good. I kissed so much ass that I'll be burping shit for the next week, but it's worth it. Allow me to tease you with my opening line:

"In 2006, I moved from my home state of Michigan to accept a teaching job with a company I’d never heard of in a city I never knew existed."

and my conclusion:

"Even if I am not accepted, I will continue working to better myself, both as a teacher and a leader. I hope, however, that I will have the chance to do both as a participant in the L--- E-- program."

You're cute :-) So are you gonna answer my questions from the very first comment? What does this entail?

Good luck!!

Um, it basically involves extra Saturday meetings throughout the year, extra leadership responsibilities within the school, an "accelerated" PLP (Personal Learning Plan), being assigned a mentor....I would still do my regular job, its just preparing me to take on extra stuff and a more visible role. This first part is just the training program.

YAY JEN! YOu rock!! Bummer you can't share this with your BFF. i mean I totally get that concept. there are times when i want to share things with a certain someone in my life but i know it will later come back to bite me and the excitement of sharing it wears off. I know it wouldn't come back to bite you if you were able to share the actual news, but....i hope you know what i am trying to say. Does this mean you had to turn down the job at Build A Bear? Or did i miss that follow up post? Oh and I must say, I LOVE mason's teacher this year. She is young and cool, just like you :). So far, so good!

Congrats, Jen. You bet we're proud of you! And, of course, the drama keeps us coming back for more. :-)

Now, lets see if I can read all the posts I've missed.
