'Tis the season...

...to start exercising like a madwoman so I don't scare small children during the warmer, remove more clothes/ show more skin summer months. For the foreseeable future, I plan on spending quite a lot of time with Mr. Billy Blanks.

Looks like we'll be taking another trip to the Dutch side of the state next month for Tulip Time. Although I have historically made it my mission to AVOID West Michigan during tulip season, my grandparents (on my mom's side) will be in town that weekend, and I'm truly excited to see them again. Furthermore, we're having a "family picnic" or some crazy thing and it looks like the Garcias (ie, my daughter and family) will be able to make it. I haven't seen Amanda in...wow, a year and a half now?...because of the circumstances surrounding our situation (which have been well-documented previously on this very blog; in short, though, because it's too damn hard to continue to bite my tongue when she SHOULD have been told the truth so long ago); however, I also need to make sure that I keep our relationship strong (after all, the secret will come out eventually, and I don't want to waste the trust, love and friendship that I've spent years building up between Amanda and me).

Other than that...everything is going great. One usual thing to note: the other day, I was singing "You Are My Sunshine" to the kids--until Luc, the 2 year old, reached out and put his hand over my mouth. Fabulous...even a toddler can recognize my horrible lack of tune and pitch.

(For the record, I continue to blame the recurring ear infections I had as a child for my tone-deafness.)

Okay, being that I would consider myself a member of the family, why have I heard absolutely nothing of said "family picnic"? Just curious.....

Because it's nothing "official," I dont even know if it's really a picnic. Did Mom tell you that the grandparents were going to be in town that weekend?

Yeah, appearently we're just the stepkids cause I haven't heard anything either. Whatever I don't want to go to your picnic but not really anyways. JK-- Melissa

Oh, knock it off. It's like a month away. That means Mom won't really start planning for it for another 29 days. =-) The only reason *I* know is cuz she told me she invited the Garcias to the picnic, and I was like, "What picnic?"

And it's not a PICNIC, just people eating outside in the warm weather.
;)

Wow! You didnt hear anything about that?!? Even I knew that.. I must be more important than missand nikki.. :-P

(Side note: I am preparing myself for the beating I shall recieve after you read this. :-P)

Man, I got to find out about it at the same time as sisters? Huh, they must really not like them.
I'm a step-kid myself and know how it feels- Solidarity my sistas!

(lol j/k heehee)

LOL. It sounds fun; I hope the Garcias actually SHOW UP, though.

Brent hates it when I sing, too. If he's within arm's reach, he covers my mouth. If he's too far away, he says "Mom, could you just stop singing please? I don't like it" :-)

FYI, Mom just told me that the "family picnic" is now an "indoor picnic," which basically means "dinner."

So yeah, we're having family over for dinner. Bring your party hats.

Ah, yet another venture where Jen will be less than 15 minutes away from my house and probably make NO ATTEMPT to get in contact with me, AGAIN. You have a month to plan accordingly Jen and if you are too busy, just bring Renee, she and i will hang out, ha :)

Renee said...

LOL Kish! Ya know what, I SHOULD get your phone number, cuz my parents live in Holland too. Sometimes if John's gonna be gone for work for a few days we spend a night or two at mom and dads. You and I could go out after our boys are in bed or something (or even get together WITH the boys; I'm sure they'd have fun!) And John WILL be gone at the end of April... I'll have to see how long he's gone for :-)

And indoor picnics SUCK! You guys should have it at a park or beach or something. Kollen's park is really nice now. Just a suggestion :-) And you could get the food from the deli at Family Fare or D&W or something. Do I need to facilitate this for you guys? ;-)

Renee said...

LOL. And then you don't have to all eat Deb's cooking :-) LOL. I'm funny :-)

Jen said...

Oh lord, where do I begin?

1) Renee, don't you DARE make me look bad by hanging out with Kishelle while you're in town, LOL. I'll never, and I mean, NEVER, hear the end of it from Kishelle.

2) Kishelle, IN MY DEFENSE, I will have my grandparents in town that I haven't seen in years AND my daughter who I also haven't seen in much longer than I care to admit.

See? I really do have REALLY GOOD EXCUSES.

Renee said...

No, see it has nothing to do with you. Kishelle and I are friends, too, so if it happens to work out that we can hang out, that's great :-) Plus maybe you'll make more of an effort OTHER times. Yes, you have a good excuse THIS time, what with the grandparents and Amanda being there :-)

Anna said...

You've got to make time for people.
You should stop by Kishelle's or go out to some meal with her if you're going to be in the same town.
When I go to MN it's non-stop, bumper-to-bumper seeing my family, Tim's family, my friends, Tim's friends. You can do it!

Jen said...

LOL, I know, but it's ALREADY nonstop like that!

But you're right, maybe we could plan something for either 2 am on Fri night/Sat morning or 5:30 am Sat night/ Sun morning.

Renee said...

You're such a smart ass. You could even just stop by for an hour. Even a HALF hour would be fine, I'm sure! How long has it been since you guys have seen each other? I'd be LIVID if you were in town and didn't come see me. Or at least call me to TRY to set something up ;-)

keesh said...

Wow, Thanks Anna and Renee. I don't even have to defend myself. Jen will be a ball of excuses no matter how many or few people she has to see. She can't even sneak away to meet a couple of old high school friends for coffee. bummer!

keesh said...

It has been 5 years on Friday since she has seen me. my wedding was the last time.

Jen said...

Happy Anniversary Kishelle!!!

Jen said...

(Note the change of subject.) ;)

keesh said...

I am married to the KING OF SUBJECT CHANGE, it can't happen. i have learned to bring things back on track. Again, there are 24 hours in a day, if you spend 10 with your family and Amanda, and then spent 2 or so with me and maybe Kacey, then you still have 12 hours to sleep and whatever. next excuse PLEASE!

keesh said...

Jen, Seriously, come home a day early or stay a day late, what the crap!. next excuse...

Renee said...

Happy Anniversary Kishelle :-)

Jen, you're so busted. I am willing to bet that Kishelle and Kacey would come to Holland to pick your ass up and go out for a drink or SOMETHING for an hour.

I would so kill you if I hadn't seen you in FIVE YEARS and you're that close when in Holland.

Like your family is gonna balk at you leaving for an hour. Shit, the way you and your mom get along, you'll need the break anyway!

Jen said...

But I'm FAT!

I have to lose 25 lbs by then.

Plus, what the hell do I do with Jeff while we're girl talking?

keesh said...

I think jeff would be insulted to think you think he is incapable of surviving without you? I don't want to see you for the size of your body anyway, so I don't care if you think you are fat. BITE ME BIS-NITCH!

Anna said...

Wow! 5 Years! Congratulations tomorrow Kishelle! Any anniversary plans?

Renee said...

What the fuck does being fat have to do with anything we're talking about? We are all your true friends and could give a shit what you look like; we want to see you for your shining personality!!

keesh said...

Yeah, what Renee said!!

Renee said...

And it sounds like, according to Jeff's summer plans, he'd be content sitting in a bar drinking beer and scratching himself :-)

And hell-o, Kishelle and Kacey might like to MEET Jeff. Bring him with you. He's good at girl talk ;-)

keesh said...

Yeah, listen to Renee, the girl has good ideas. besides it would be fun to drink coffee and tell Jeff some old high school stories. ah now!

Jen said...

I'm laughing my ass off, thinking of some old high school memories now.

Jen said...

"Joe was MY roughneck brotha!!"

keesh said...

and remember the burger king cup? That was funny. not sure why, but it was funny. What about the Quote List?? WHAT THE HECK!

Renee said...

*I* like to hear John's high school memories! Most of them start out with "Well, we were drunk..." :-) But Jeff might like to hear about your wild high school days (just leave out the 75 guys you banged that one night). LOL. Just kidding.

Anna said...

I wanna hear these stories! They sound highly entertaining ;)
