I sold out.
You've probably noticed the Google banner ad running across the top of my blog. I'm trying out their new Google AdSense program; in theory, every time someone clicks on one of the advertised links, I get money (it's probably like half a cent per click, but what the hell). The cool thing about it is that the links and ads are customized to the content of my blog--it picks up key words from the posts (NASCAR teachers soldiers troops nanny <--- just experimenting) and displays links that are relevant to what we're talking and writing about (you can thank Renee's recent post for the link to "Buttermilk pancakes," lol).
Anyway, I'm just trying it out. We'll see how it goes. (It BETTER work; this revenue is going to be my drinking money for the blog party). ;)

So, everyone go to all the ads that are on Jen's blog at least 100 times :). Now how do i do that on my blog?
when you go to the main blogger home page, after you log in, look on the right hand side and find "Google AdSense," then click on that for more info and to get started. You can change the colors and stuff to make it match your site.
They do give you "code" that you have to post into your blog template; I had to play around with mine to get it in the right place.
Hmmm...no money so far. And people have been clicking, so apparently you need a whole LOTTA clicking to start making money.
At this rate, I'll be drinking water at Ye Olde Blog Gathering.
Nah, I'll just start hookin' again.
OH MY GOD, ANNA.
LOL.
When you're looking at my main blog page. The "home" page. Up at the top. Right under the "IT's not that I'm lazy" and "a Very special blog," you'll see a series of 4 or so ads going horizontally across the page. You click THOSE. THOSE. (As I write this, they're all about blogging stuff.) Text only, no pics.
I'm really not happy so far. I haven't made any money, AND the ads are changing now with new posts; they're still the pancakes-and-blog ones. Maybe they'll change once the posts discussing our blog party and Brent drop off the page; if not, I'm just getting rid of the whole thing.
As of Friday afternoon, they have FINALLY changed, so I'm excited. (I need to get out more.)
LOL, and now they're back to the Sucky Links for me anyway.
Let me check my balance. If the ads aren't there anymore by the time you read this, it means "No, there ain't shit."
