Wish us luck
Tomorrow, we're taking 80 5th graders on a 2-hour bus ride to Busch Gardens.
I think they're almost more excited about riding the "fancy" charter buses.
I'm in charge of the Wild and Wet group, which isn't as dirty as it sounds. It just means that this group is focusing it's time on the wildest, most extreme rides (like The Sheikra or something. The kids keep talking about it. I really need to look it up, since I already promised them I'd go on it) and the water rides.
One of the kids was babbling this morning as I walked in the door about how a live jaguar escaped from one of the rides/attractions a few days ago....blah blah blah. It was 7:30 am so I wasn't really listening. Perhaps it would behoove me to research that, as well.
The kids are just shocked and amazed that Miss K. is going on all of "their" rides and not standing there and watching like other chaperones. It's yet another reminder that they see me as 50 while I see myself more as 23. (I offered them this challenge: I have NEVER found a ride/roller coaster that I won't go on, and it won't happen tomorrow, either.)

Well I have screwed myself but good.
Sheikra: In 2005, Busch Gardens Africa introduced the world to a one-of-a-kind experience: 200 feet up, 90 degrees straight down. And that was just the beginning. As the nation’s first dive coaster, SheiKra raised the bar with first-of-a-kind elements like a true 90-degree drop, an Immelmann loop and a second vertical dive into an underground tunnel.
Now, technology has raised that bar even higher, introducing SheiKra’s fans to an even greater thrill. In June 2007, Busch Gardens reintroduced SheiKra to the world with a new twist: “floorless” cars that allow riders an unobstructed view of the 70 mph rush.
I would throw up all over the place. And possibly piss myself. Best of luck to you, sista!
The bus ride should be fun, too... are the teachers meeting for copious amounts of post-field trip alcohol?
By the time we get back, we'll be so tired and sweaty and, I'm sure, irritated that we'll probably just go home
Best of luck, Jen. I have never done a field trip. I was a nervous wreck as a father trying to keep up with three daughters. I can't imagine trying to keep up with 80 of them.
We're back. Alive. All kids accounted for. Great day but I'm exhausted and still a bit shell-shocked. ;) Will write more later.
LOL! Can't wait to hear all about it!
I would have loved to ride on that Sheikra ride. That's my kinda ride!
Glad to hear that 80 5th graders can be taken out for some fun and brought back safely. And that the teachers live to tell about it. I'll be waiting for your report, too.
When's your last day of school, by the way?
No word from Jen. Should I head over to Busch Gardens and see if they tied her up?
Fred, that might not be a bad idea, LOL. Maybe she keeled over after riding the Sheikra :-)
You're not 50 or 23 - you're about 16 tops!
