Give me the Oreos and pass the remote.

I have been working out very regularly for the last 6 weeks or so; in fact, this past week was my best ever (every day except Saturday, 30-40 minutes at a time, except for Tae Bo Monday). And while I'm not on a diet (because I won't be able to stick to it long term, so I'd rather make "life style changes"), I'm trying to make better choices, eat less (although admittedly, I'm not writing anything down) and not eat late at night anymore. But EVEN SO, I'm DEFINITELY eating better and less than I was before--and exercising WAY MORE--so the (@*@&^@^ scale should be going down, not up!!

Yes, that's right. I weighed myself at the mall today....AND I GAINED A *#&#^^@*@* POUND. (Although, without going into too much detail, RENEE, I might be carrying around extra "girl weight" at the moment, as I just, um, got my visitor this morning. And I'm not sure how long after your visitor's arrival you continue to carry around that "girl weight." So I HOPE TO HELL that that's part of it, too.) So I'm going back to eating cookies and sitting on the couch. What the hell am I busting my ass for? Seriously, I could cry, I feel so....dejected. I have something VERY IMPORTANT in December that I'm trying to lose weight for (details to follow) and to have worked THIS HARD for 6 weeks and have made NEGATIVE progress just makes me want to give up. Now what?

My advice? Use a scale at home, and only that scale. Using other scales (especially in a doctor's office) will only lead to disappointment.

I'm wondering if "man weight" is when a guy isn't getting it on a regular basis. There's a little extra he's carrying around, right?

Crap, you guys have me sinking to new lows...

Dang, Fred, you're so smutty.

You've gained muscle sweetie. Don't worry about it unless your clothes are feeling tighter. Keep up the exercising; it will only do you good.

Yes Jen, 6 weeks is great and that is when the muscle starts kicking in. don't use the scale, use the clothes, Jamie Dawn is right on!
Some of us girls talk on this website: http://www.babyweightbites.blogspot.com/

go there....it is for people who have had babies that want to get int shape or just anyone. Congrats Jen! What is coming in December?

I'm not telling you about the December thing yet. =-) Y'all already think I'm crazy.

And JD, I don't WANNA gain muscle. I wanna lose weight. I'm not trying to be Arnold Schwarza-howeverthehellyouspellit. I just want to get down to the 140s, that's all I ask. I'm not trying out for Miss Universe here.

(I'm not "yelling" at you, btw. I'm pissed off at the Scale Gods.)

You will NEVER just lose fat, regardless of what you do! It's inevitable, you will gain muscle when you work out and you WANT to have muscle, it helps your metabolism and burns fat. And no, you will not be all freakishly muscular, you have to do massive weight work for that, a simple cardio workout or whatever you do is only going to tone and shape. In my experience, stick with what you're doing and QUIT looking at the scale. The first thing my trainer at the gym told me is stay off the scales. Everone kept saying to me "Oh, you're losing weight" and I wasn't, I was just getting more toned. So, stay the hell off the scales and just keep doing what you're doing.

I wish I could fully comment, but it's hard to type with a Ring Ding in one hand and a Ho Ho in the other (and I don't mean Renee).

No, She means me :)>...

I know you all are right.

But I'm a woman. Even if I know that, intellectually, I'm gaining muscle, I still want to see that scale going down, ya know?

LOL..what kills me is that I actually THREW AWAY my scale cuz I was convinced it was wrong.

LOL. That's sad.

HEY. There is no need for name-calling.

Anna and I just went out to dinner, and she said that my "body shape was definitely changing." LOL, but after my meltdown the other day, she HAS to say something about how I look, being such a good friend and all.

Boobs and ass are the last to go! And boobs are pretty hard to get rid of!
BTW, love the new term Nee, Debbish,it's awesome!

Actually...

I wasn't going to bring up my boobs, but after commenting on my changing body shape, Anna goes:
"My, your breasts really are quite large, aren't they?" or something along those lines. Apparently, they're NOT getting smaller as the rest of me changes--not yet, anyway.

Fine, thank you for your nice comment. =-)
