Heartwrenching

I don't care what you thought or how you felt about Michael Jackson, this moment at the end of his memorial service should have been like a kick to the stomach.

We only saw and knew a very, very small part of Michael, but we have to remember that there are 3 children who are going through an emotional nighmare right now. Losing a parent is heartbreaking at any age, but to have it happen so young--and under this kind of media attention--is unfathomable. I don't know what's to become of these three children, but I predict we'll see a lot more of them. Much as William and Harry carried on their mother's legacy, I think Michael ingrained something into his kids that they will carry with them, and share, for the rest of their lives.

So to those 3 children, especially this brave little girl who stood in front of a worldwide audience of who knows how many million, to share her love for her father: you have many thoughts and prayers with you. And know that you made, and will continue to make, your father very proud.

(Yeah, I know, I don't usually get so serious and sappy on here. But this moment truly touched me, and I wanted to talk about it.)

And the second and the third. LOL.

Yeah, it's sad for his kids. And his family. And everyone who ACTUALLY KNEW him and loved him. Isn't it this way when ANYONE dies?

I'm just sayin that the $4 million could have gone elsewhere and been extremely helpful for people who truly needed it. Sorry if he pissed all his millions away and was broke when he died. Not my problem. I'd be livid if I were a tax paying resident of LA and had to pay for his fucking memorial service. Guess who will be paying for MY memorial service? MY FAMILY. $4 million. You've got to be kidding me. Are there really people out there who think that this is OKAY?!

....And the debate moves to the blog. LOL.

Well one argument has been that with all of the taxes HE paid to LA over the years, $4 mil was a drop in the bucket. Second, all of the revenue that his service will end up bringing in (the "tourism factor," for lack of a better word) will help to offset it as well. Third, the City of LA website is asking for donations, and who konws how much that will bring in from ppl around the world. Fourth, we don't know how much the Jackson family will end up putting in.

I'm just saying. =-)

Didn't Janet look lovely?

I think she's one of the most beautiful women ever. She DID look lovely. :-)

I'm done getting fired up over it. It's a waste of my time to be so upset over something I have no control over. We'll just have to agree to disagree on everything MJ :-)

So I shouldnt bring his greatest hits to our girls' weekend? LOL. Can I wear my silver glove at least?

Renee said...

LOL. Please wear both the glove AND the purple helmet/bucket!

And I don't care if you bring the greatest hits cd... like I said-- I loved him back in the day, too. He just got so weird I lost all respect for him.

I regret to inform you that my purple helmet is packed away at school; it may not make the trip to Mich with me. We'll hit Target and I'll find a suitable replacement. LOL

Awwwww, man! You promised! I guess you could borrow Brent's bike helmet. Since I'm a bad mom and never make him wear it unless we go ride trails. It's cool, though. You'd look like a skater chick instead of a mental ward escapee :-)

Please. We all made it through childhood just fine without wearing bicycle helmets. Those things are so over-rated. Well, except for that time I got hit by a car. One may have been helpful THEN. lol But other than that, did we ever really need one? ;)

I promise, I'll find a good bucket-helmet during our alcohol/Blue Moon run.

LOL. I know. That's why I don't make him wear one. But the trails we ride on have HUGE hills and we get going so fast down them that his bike kind of wiggles. So I make him wear one on those. I don't wear one, though, LOL. Nice. But every time he goes for a well-child appt, his doctor asks him if he wears a helmet and he says not usually and I get a scolding look every time :-) And dude, motorcyclists don't have to wear helmets here. If THEY don't have to, my kid riding his bike around the neighborhood on sidewalks doesn't need to wear one.

Oh yeah!! Speaking of Blue Moon... I stumbled upon a recipe for a Blue Moon cocktail. We're so making them next weekend!
